Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
Vancity is modernizing its technology landscape and we’re looking for a seasoned Infrastructure & Solutions Architect who can help us build secure, scalable and future ready platforms that power exceptional member experiences.
If you excel at designing resilient cloud and hybrid architectures, shaping technology standards, and influencing cross-functional delivery at scale, this role will give you the impact, visibility and challenge you’re looking for.
As an Infrastructure Architect, you will play a critical role in designing and maintaining secure, adaptive technology infrastructure architectures that align with Vancity’s Technology Roadmap and business needs. You’ll provide technical guidance, review infrastructure change requests, and ensure projects adhere to architectural standards, enabling stability and scalability across our systems.
We’re looking for a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous learning. This is a Full-time, Permanent role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role will require you to work on-site at least two days a week and for events and business demands. This requirement might change in future as per business need.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You will shape the future of Vancity’s infrastructure by providing architectural leadership that enables security, resilience, scalability and modernization across our technology ecosystem. In this role, you will:
- Monitor and assess our infrastructure landscape, identifying opportunities to modernize and align with Vancity’s Technology Roadmap.
- Review and advise on infrastructure change requests to ensure compliance with architectural standards, security requirements, and long-term platform direction.
- Provide expert technical guidance to Enterprise Service Delivery, Cloud Engineering, SRE and other ITS teams.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to ensure infrastructure designs directly support organizational goals and strategic priorities.
- Support projects that require architectural dispensation, ensuring decisions remain aligned with roadmap and risk posture.
- Develop forward-looking strategies for secure, scalable and adaptive infrastructure solutions.
- Research emerging technologies, particularly within Azure, hybrid cloud, and integration platforms and assess their value and impact on Vancity.
- Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and innovation within our infrastructure architecture practices.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
You are a seasoned architect who combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset. You have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or solutions architecture in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of Azure cloud services, hybrid infrastructure patterns, and modern architectural frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and align technology solutions to business strategy and operational needs.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity, influence decisions, and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovation, resilience, and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with financial-sector security, compliance, and regulatory expectations (PCI-DSS, SOC2, etc.).
- Professional certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, or ITIL are strong assets.
Technical Requirements (Deep Expertise Expected)
- Azure Architecture (expert level): Demonstrated experience designing and delivering solutions using Azure Landing Zones, Azure AD/Entra ID, Azure Networking (VNETs, Firewalls, Private Endpoints, Application Gateways), Azure Storage, Key Vault, App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure SQL and Event-Driven architectures.
- Cloud Governance & Security: Hands-on experience implementing Azure Policy, RBAC, Conditional Access, Zero Trust principles, Managed Identities, enterprise tagging strategy, cost controls, and governance frameworks aligned with CAF.
- Hybrid Infrastructure Expertise: Strong understanding of hybrid network connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN gateways), identity federation (ADFS, SAML, OAuth), certificate services, DNS, and integrations between on-premises and Azure resources.
- Resilience & Reliability Engineering: Proven ability to architect for HA/DR using availability zones, redundancy patterns, backup strategies, monitoring and alerting frameworks, and performance engineering.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Deep experience with IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions), and automated deployment pipelines for cloud infrastructure.
- Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of enterprise network design, segmentation, firewalls, load balancers, routing, DNS, TLS, and secure network patterns in cloud environments.
- Monitoring & Observability: Experience designing observability patterns using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Managed Grafana, dashboards, alert rules, and distributed tracing.
- Enterprise Application Integration: Familiarity with API architecture, integration patterns, eventing (Service Bus/Event Hub), and secure inter-system communications.
- Architecture Documentation: Ability to produce clear architectural artifacts including decision records, solution blueprints, threat models, sequence diagrams, logical/physical architecture maps, and migration playbooks.
- Regulatory & Financial Industry Awareness (preferred):
Experience with environments requiring PCI-DSS, SOC2, OSFI guidelines, data residency, encryption standards, and secure banking patterns.
Mandatory Certifications (or equivalent experience):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (preferred)

What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a salary range of $125,200 to $154,350 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
