Overview: Our client is known to be one of the largest insurance brokers in BC. They are looking for a seasoned commercial insurance expert with a consultative mindset, strong market knowledge, and a passion for developing business. As an Assistant Vice President of Complex Risk, this person will drive strategic client relationships and contribute to the growth of the organization.
What you will be doing : (Responsibilities)
- Coordinate, plan, and develop service and marketing initiatives for clients
- Negotiate terms for new business, renewals, and mid-term changes with insurance carriers
- Gather and organize information from Account Managers, Producers, and other sources for submissions
- Prepare insurance summaries, client proposals, and related documentation
- Analyze and review policy wordings to ensure proper coverage
- Follow up with insurers on outstanding items (endorsements, policy wordings, quotes, etc.)
- Ensure adequate coverage and negotiate amendatory endorsements or additional requirements
- Provide alternate carrier options and mitigate coverage gaps
- Attend industry events and educational seminars to expand your network
- Other duties as required
What you must have : (Qualifications)
- 5–10 years of expertise in commercial insurance
- Client-facing experience supporting senior leadership
- Background in sales or marketing
- Strong risk identification and analysis skills
- Ability to recommend account commission/compensation (subject to approval)
- Experience assisting with sales processes (new and renewal)
- Knowledge of market trends and ability to identify gaps in coverage
- Previous experience in broking/marketing and account management
- Level 2 General Insurance License
- Industry certifications (CAIB, CIP, CRM, BCIT Risk Management) and/or legal, finance, or engineering qualifications
