Position Summary
Reporting to the VP Operations, the Director of Procurement and Supply Chain provides senior
level leadership, strategic direction, and governance over all supply chain, procurement and
inventory control activities across the organization. This includes full oversight of sourcing,
contract negotiation, supplier management, materials planning, and inventory strategy.
The Director leads a high-performing team of Buyers and Inventory Control personnel. This senior
leader is accountable for strengthening supply chain resilience, optimizing inventory levels,
reducing material costs, and improving ERP data accuracy. The role partners closely with
Manufacturing, Design, Project Management, Estimating, and Finance to ensure procurement
excellence and reliable material availability for both plant and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership & Governance
• Develop and implement a multi-year procurement and inventory strategy aligned with
organizational growth and operational objectives.
• Establish governance standards for purchasing, inventory management, and supplier
compliance.
• Lead long-term category management strategies and supplier performance frameworks.
• Provide executive-level reporting on procurement and inventory KPIs, risks, cost
reduction activities, and supply chain trends.
Global & Local Sourcing / Supply Chain Management
• Identify, evaluate, and manage global and regional suppliers, manufacturers, and
distributors.
• Build relationships to strengthen supply continuity, reduce lead times, and improve
pricing stability.
• Oversee major contract negotiations, including long-term supply agreements and direct
to-manufacturer partnerships.
• Drive supplier performance evaluations focusing on quality, delivery, compliance, and
cost.
Procurement Strategy, Cost Optimization & Inventory Management
• Lead the enterprise-wide strategy for materials forecasting, demand planning, and
inventory optimization.
• Ensure accurate safety stock levels, replenishment strategies, and cycle count programs.
• Mitigate material shortages and proactively adjust inventory strategy based on market
changes and production needs.
• Partner with Finance and Estimating to ensure material cost accuracy and forecasting
reliability.
• Deliver measurable cost reductions through strategic sourcing, volume consolidation, and
inventory efficiency.
LEAN Procurement & Operational Excellence
• Apply LEAN principles to optimize procurement and inventory workflows, reduce waste,
and improve process flow.
• Implement inventory management best practices to increase accuracy, visibility, and
throughput to production.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing purchasing efficiency and
reducing non-value-added activities.
ERP Systems, Data Governance & Reporting
• Provide senior oversight of procurement and inventory control functions within the ERP
system.
• Ensure accurate material master data, inventory counts, costing, BOM accuracy, and
replenishment logic.
• Lead system enhancement projects to improve transparency of spend, usage, and supplier
performance.
• Deliver timely and reliable dashboards for procurement, inventory, and supply chain KPIs.
Team Leadership, Coaching & Organizational Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop Buyers and Inventory Control staff.
• Establish succession planning, skills development, and performance management
frameworks for the department.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive procurement/supply chain experience, including 5+ years at a
senior leadership level.
• Experience managing both procurement and inventory control functions in a
manufacturing, modular construction, or industrial environment.
• Advanced capability in sourcing strategy, contract negotiation, vendor performance
management, and cost reduction.
• Strong understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, and warehousing best
practices.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, MS Business Central, or equivalent).
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Preferred Attributes
• Experience in modular or prefabricated construction environments.
• Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, PMP, or equivalent.
• Experience with international sourcing, logistics, and import/export processes.
• Familiarity with LEAN principles and supply chain optimization.
