Job Description
The VP Operations is a member of the Executive Team and responsible for the direction, strategy, planning, and execution of the company’s manufacturing operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a leader who thrives in a scaling environment. You will lead a team of production staff with a mandate to grow, overseeing all operational activities including upstream manufacturing, packaging, facilities and maintenance, production planning, and supply chain management.
We are looking for a "builder" with high rigor and grit—someone capable of high-level strategic planning who is equally willing to be on the floor to drive execution.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive Commercial Scale-Up : Drive all GMP and commercial manufacturing activities during this critical scaling phase.
- Strategic Execution : In cooperation with the other Executive Team members, you develop, plan, and execute the strategy for establishing and continuously improving film manufacturing capability at Nualtis.
- Equipment & Facility : Work directly and full circle with equipment builders on optimizing and scaling the production facility.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure that operational activities are performed in compliance with pertinent rules and regulations (Health Canada/FDA/EMA).
- Team Leadership and Development : Manage and grow the team hands-on, day-to-day and following the company vision.
- QMS Integration : In cooperation with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations, ensure continuous improvement of the Quality Management System for the Company.
- R&D Collaboration : Cooperate with the R&D department on scale-up and process development activities relating to development projects.
- Strategic Sourcing : Explore contract manufacturing opportunities and established relationships with sub-contract manufacturers.
- Standards & Cost : Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
- Negotiation : Play an active role in senior-level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners.
- Budgeting : Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins.
- Supply Chain : Direct all production control, production process development, material procurement, and shipping/receiving activities.
- Serialization : Implements serialization procedures and policy as required.
Job Requirements
- Education : B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Business discipline. A background demonstrating high academic rigor (e.g., top-tier university) is highly valued.
- Experience : A minimum of 5 years of experience in GMP and commercial manufacturing, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, fab management, and/or operations of specialty pharma manufacturing. This has come on top of a foundation of other work or academic experience, which will have given you a different leverage for the position.
- Profile : We are seeking a candidate with high intellect, grit, and an ownership mindset. Experience in Management Consulting prior to operational roles is a strong plus.
- Supply Chain : Experience in materials management, from planning through purchasing, and negotiation and administration of procurement agreements.
- Network : Established relationships with the full range of worldwide sub-contract manufacturers and familiarity with their capabilities, pricing strategies, and negotiation tactics.
- Management : Sound administrative skills and well-developed management skills, with the ability to lead a tight-knit team on-site.
