Contract Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension

Job Title: Arborist
Overview
The Arborist is responsible for delivering comprehensive arborist and landscape-related design services in support of facility projects. This role ensures all designs and documentation meet technical, regulatory, and safety standards while supporting constructability, maintainability, cost efficiency, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed tree assessments and prepare related reports, including:
- Tree replacement recommendations
- Tree protection measures
- Tree injury or risk assessments
- Identification of trees requiring removal
- Collaborate closely with the Landscape Architect and broader design team.
- Develop and validate design concepts that meet project requirements.
- Perform alternatives analysis and value engineering to identify efficient, maintainable, and cost-effective design solutions.
- Complete and/or review arborist-related design calculations to finalize project deliverables.
- Ensure all designs comply with current codes, regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Prepare design drawings using MicroStation.
- Review, edit, and contribute to specifications for submission as part of design deliverables.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive and integrated design outputs.
- Conduct detailed quality and technical checks on all design inputs and documentation.
- Sign and stamp drawings as required by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to support permitting and tendering processes.
- Support the preparation of addenda and contract change documentation.
- Review shop drawings and provide technical oversight.
- Perform site visits in accordance with OBC and other applicable regulatory requirements, and submit related reports.
- Oversee updates to design documentation and ensure accurate preparation of final as-built drawings.
- Maintain active registration with the International Society of Arboriculture – Ontario (ISAO).
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of directly related experience , including progressive work within transit facility design or similar environments.
- Mandatory registration with the International Society of Arboriculture – Ontario (ISAO) .
- Proficiency in MicroStation , Microsoft Excel , and Microsoft Word .
