Job Role : Accessibility Engineer
Duration : 12 Months (Need to go 4 days in week onsite)
Location : Toronto, ON
- Own and evolve the accessibility roadmap for digital platforms, prioritizing features, remediation efforts, and strategic investments in accessibility tooling and process.
- Act as accessibility subject matter expert (SME) across the product portfolio, ensuring conformance to AODA, WCAG 2.2 AA or AAA, AMA standards, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal and external development teams to ensure new features and site enhancements meet or exceed accessibility standards.
- Lead or support accessibility audits (manual and automated), coordinate remediation plans, and track resolution of issues in partnership with QA and engineering.
- Embed accessibility as a core product principle across all stages of discovery, design, development, and deployment.
- Define and track KPIs related to accessibility compliance, performance, and user impact, reporting out to senior leadership.
- Guide procurement and review of third-party tools, plugins, or agencies supporting accessibility goals.
- Champion inclusive design thinking and promote accessibility education internally to raise awareness and adoption.
- Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to align on digital accessibility obligations and ensure audit readiness.
Must Have Skills:
- 5–8 years of product management experience, ideally in enterprise-level web platforms or financial services.
- Proven track record of driving accessibility initiatives in large digital ecosystems.
- Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.2 (AA or AAA) standards, AODA, and Canadian federal/provincial accessibility requirements.
- Familiarity with Assistive Technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, voice input) and testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, NVDA).
- Strong understanding of Agile product development, user-centered design, and digital compliance.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including design, content, development, and legal/compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, IAAP, or Trusted Tester) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of investment management, fund platforms, or B2B/B2C financial portals is preferred.
