The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, reliability, and performance of assigned plant systems. This role supports safe and efficient operations through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities - System Ownership & Technical Leadership: Act as the primary technical authority for assigned plant systems. Maintain current system documentation and a strong understanding of system design, operation, and performance.
- System Monitoring & Performance Analysis: Track system health through indicators, data trending, and surveillance. Analyze performance data to detect and resolve issues early. Prepare and deliver routine system health reports.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Investigate equipment failures, abnormal conditions, and operational events. Lead root cause analyses and implement effective corrective actions. Support emergency and off-normal responses as needed.
- Maintenance & Reliability Support: Work closely with maintenance teams to plan and prioritize preventive and corrective tasks. Develop, review, and approve maintenance strategies, procedures, and work packages. Ensure timely system restoration to full operation.
- System Upgrades & Modifications: Identify improvement opportunities and develop engineering change packages. Ensure all modifications meet safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. Support implementation and commissioning activities.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure alignment with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CNSC). Participate in audits, inspections, and safety reviews while promoting strong nuclear safety culture.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate system records, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation. Prepare reports, event summaries, and regulatory submissions.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive best practices to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and safety. Participate in lessons learned, benchmarking, and process improvement initiatives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and regulatory teams. Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications Skills:
- Solid understanding of engineering principles related to power generation (nuclear, hydro, or thermal).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience in power generation, utilities, or industrial environments.
- Experience in system engineering, design engineering, maintenance, operations, or project engineering is an asset.
Professional Designation:
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario is preferred. Candidates actively pursuing P.Eng. and close to completion are also encouraged to apply.
