Partner Staffing on behalf of our client is seeking a Bridge Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in the analysis, design, and rehabilitation of bridge and transportation structures. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of municipal, provincial, and transportation projects across Alberta while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, and project managers.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects from concept and preliminary design through detailed design and construction support, with increasing responsibility and mentorship toward senior technical or project leadership roles.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and transportation structures using Canadian codes and standards (CSA S6, CHBDC).
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports for new bridge construction, rehabilitation, and widening projects.
- Support condition assessments, inspections, load ratings, and rehabilitation strategies for existing structures.
- Coordinate with transportation, geotechnical, environmental, and construction teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Assist with construction administration, including shop drawing review, RFIs, site visits, and deficiency reviews.
- Contribute to project scheduling, cost estimates, and scope development under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in client meetings and liaise with municipal and provincial authorities (e.g., City of Edmonton, Alberta Transportation).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 4+ years of relevant bridge or structural engineering experience in Canada.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta.
- Working knowledge of CHBDC / CSA S6, CSA A23.3, and applicable transportation standards.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, MIDAS, LUSAS, AASHTOWare BrR, or equivalent).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D; experience with BIM is an asset.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team-based projects.
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience with bridge inspections, load rating, or rehabilitation design.
- Familiarity with Alberta Transportation or municipal bridge standards.
- Exposure to project coordination or mentoring junior staff.
- Experience supporting projects during construction phase.
