Salary: $95,000 - $127,000
Reports To: The Mining Development Manager in the Economic Development Department

Responsibilities:
- Support Inuit involvement in all sectors of the mining industry through research, analysis, and business planning.
- Research and facilitate development strategies and business plans for emerging opportunities in the mining sector.
- Collaborate with the Mining Development Manager and the Director of Business Development to identify and strategize contract opportunities.
- Monitor trends and developments within the mining industry to identify areas for Inuit participation and growth.
- Review and analyze existing contracts with operating mines in Nunavik to ensure optimal benefits for Inuit communities.
- Conduct needs assessments for exploration companies active in the region to identify potential business opportunities.
- Research and propose business ideas within the mining exploration sector that align with Nunaviks economic development objectives.
- Ensure Inuit participation in all relevant economic sectors within Nunavik.
- Collaborate with Landholding Corporations located near exploration or mining activities to support local engagement.
- Research and develop business opportunities for the Economic Development Department and assist in related initiatives.
- Support the creation of joint ventures and Makivvik-owned subsidiaries within Nunavik to enhance regional business capacity.
- Participate in the preparation and submission of bids and proposals for contracts in the mining industry.
- Contribute to Nunavik-wide economic development initiatives in collaboration with communities and partners.
- Draft, edit, and produce reports, studies, position papers, policy statements, and other documentation related to mining business development.
- Support the development of policies related to business and procurement within the Economic Development Department.
- Attend mining industry conferences and events to represent Makivvik and identify partnership opportunities.
- Be available to travel, as requested.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Procurement, Engineering, Mining, or a related field.
- A degree in Social Sciences combined with relevant mining experience may also be considered.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in business development, research, or the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of mining operations, procurement processes, and industry trends.
- Experience supporting business or partnership development initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to develop strategic plans and assess new business opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with communities, corporations, and partners.
- Understanding of Nunaviks unique culture and traditions is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel to Nunavik communities and remote mining sites as required.
- Effective communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French.
- Effective Computer skills: Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
- Security clearance is required.
