Position Overview:
The Purchasing Associate plays a critical role within the organization’s supply-chain and operations team, supporting the procurement of complex electronic components, harnessing materials, precision assemblies, and outsourced manufacturing services. This position ensures continuity of supply for high-reliability products used in aerospace, defense, rail, and industrial test applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform daily reviews of MRP requirements and collaborate with suppliers to establish optimal quantities, delivery schedules, and shipping methods;
• Manage supplier performance issues, including quality concerns, delivery delays, and service gaps;
• Identify solutions to supply-chain challenges such as budget constraints, lead-time changes, vendor errors, or material shortages;
• Review and track all outstanding purchase orders; follow up on discrepancies and ensure accurate fulfillment;
• Coordinate material transfers from third-party warehouses to Company's main facility in a timely and cost-effective manner;
• Review monthly demand forecasts and initiate blanket orders for long-lead components (PCBs, relays, connectors, harness components, etc.);
• Obtain and analyze monthly inventory reports from key suppliers to maintain accurate visibility of stock levels and WIP;
• Seek continuous-improvement opportunities and cost-reduction initiatives within the procurement cycle;
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Business Development teams to understand material requirements and support new-product introduction (NPI);
• Contribute to departmental and organizational objectives as a collaborative member of the operations team.
Experience & Skills required:
• Minimum 3 years of procurement experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industrial environments;
• Experience with ERP systems;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis);
• Good negotiation, supplier-management, and communication skills;
• Analytical thinker with the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment;
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
