CHEP is looking for a motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Boucherville, QB! This role will lead a team of 3 technicians and will travel to 3–4 other plants in the region approx. 2 days/week.
*Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel to the alternative sites.
About the Role:
Responsible for leading the service center maintenance departments to achieve the safe and effective maintenance, repair or replacement of plant facility systems.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Develop and manage a robust preventive maintenance program to ensure timely and effective maintenance, reducing equipment downtime and improving overall plant efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, actively enforcing corporate Zero Harm policies and conducting regular safety checks on equipment and building services.
- Implement process reliability systems and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at achieving equipment reliability and efficiency targets.
- Manage the procurement, inventory, and budget control of spare parts and consumables, ensuring effective stock management to support maintenance activities.
- Lead and support capital expenditure projects related to equipment upgrades, new installations, and plant improvements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor and optimize the use of utilities such as electricity, gas, and water, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Ensure plant compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards through regular safety audits, equipment testing, and asset management processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team, ensuring adequate staffing, training, and performance management to meet the operational needs of the plant.
- Support the activities of the maintenance team, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance operations.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled machinery and systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory control of spare parts, through our CMMS program.
- Collaborate with other departments, including production, EHS, quality, and engineering, to optimize plant operations and achieve production goals.
- Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- In conjunction with SCM and the Regional Maintenance Supervisor , manage maintenance budgets and control costs while maintaining high standards of service.
Performance Metrics for Evaluation:
- Equipment Downtime: Measure the reduction in equipment downtime due to effective preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
- Maintenance Response Time: Track the average time taken to respond to and resolve maintenance issues.
- Safety Compliance: Monitor adherence to safety regulations and the number of safety incidents or violations.
- Maintenance Costs: Evaluate the ability to manage and reduce maintenance costs while maintaining service quality.
- Team Productivity: Assess the productivity and efficiency of the maintenance team, including the completion of scheduled tasks and projects.
- Training and Development: Measure the progress and improvement in the skills and knowledge of maintenance technicians through training programs.
- Customer Satisfaction: Gather feedback from other departments on the effectiveness and responsiveness of the maintenance team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintenance, with a strong understanding of industrial automation systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, with a commitment to promoting a safe working environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in both French and English
Essential Qualifications:
- Licensed Maintenance Millwright/Industrial Electrician or equivalent
- Ability to lead through example and work as a subject matter expert to indirectly lead a team of Maintenance Mechanics.
- High Degree of Computer Literacy
Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with various PLC brands and programming languages.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergency situations
