Staff Lawyer
Location: Ontario
Our client
Is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for all Ontarians.
Responsibilities
- Answer Hotline calls and provide legal advice to callers on employment matters, civil litigation, and small claims court questions.
- Assess applications from victims of workplace sexual harassment.
- Draft letters and legal documents, including demand letters and workplace complaints.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteer lawyers supporting the program.
- Collaborate with external organizations to coordinate services and improve system navigation for clients.
Qualifications
- Licensed lawyer with employment law experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to navigate emotionally charged conversations with empathy and professionalism.
- Comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including nonprofit partners, community organizations, and volunteer lawyers from major firms.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and program-management capabilities.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite and comfort learning new technologies.
- Prior experience with Salesforce or another CRM is a significant asset.
- Team-oriented, grounded, and collaborative, with a genuine commitment to access to justice.
