We are looking for a Middleware Administrator to work with one of our clients, an international bank based in Montreal.
CONTEXT AND ROLE OBJECTIVES:
As part of a global operations team, the IT Services department is dedicated to managing and maintaining the organization’s technology infrastructure. Its goal is to provide secure, reliable, and scalable solutions to support business needs. This includes hosting critical applications, offering cloud-based services, managing connectivity, and enhancing workplace technology to drive digital transformation initiatives.
The IT Services team strives to deliver innovative and cost-efficient technology solutions built on a shared infrastructure. The team follows consistent standards, policies, and security frameworks across all regions, leveraging global best practices. As part of this team, the Middleware Administrator in Montreal will work closely with counterparts in the United States and Europe to oversee local systems and contribute to global operations. The role also involves participating in an on-call rotation to support systems worldwide.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES: As a Middleware File Transfer Administrator, your role will involve:
Technologies:
- Managing solutions from the IBM Sterling suite, such as Connect Enterprise, Connect Express, Connect Direct, Sterling File Gateway, and Sterling Secure Proxy.
- Familiarity with Axway CFT is an added advantage.
Protocols:
- Handling various file transfer protocols, including FTP, SFTP, FTP/SSL, PeSIT, and Connect:Direct (C:D).
Operational Support:
- Providing on-call support during evenings and weekends to ensure operational continuity and addressing critical alerts.
- Participating in a global Follow-the-Sun support framework to ensure seamless operations across different time zones.
Process Improvement:
- Advising internal teams and stakeholders on best practices to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborating on the development and regular updates of team standards, such as installation processes and operational guidelines.
- Contributing to the automation and provisioning of the file transfer platform by working on APIdriven solutions.
Standardization and Upgrades:
- Adopting a structured approach to implement and maintain consistent standards, methods, and procedures for all file transfer processes.
- Recommending and implementing upgrades to software and hardware to align with evolving requirements.
PROFILE:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Solid knowledge of file transfer technologies (e.g., key exchange, basic networking).
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows).
- Scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python).
Competencies:
- Client-focused with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams to achieve objectives.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral).
- Experience in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Proven ability to work effectively within distributed teams.
- Experience with operational management.
- Proficiency English (written and/or oral).
- French is a strong plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 4 days a week on-site in Montreal
- Candidates must be located or willing to relocate to Montreal
