We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Product Management to lead our talented team of PMs at our site in Montreal, Canada. This role is crucial for driving the strategy and execution of our operations research (OR) product suite. You will be responsible for developing and mentoring a high-performing team, defining the product roadmap, and spearheading a strategic shift to create stand-alone, cutting-edge optimizers.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity. Guide career development and manage team performance to ensure strategic goals are met.
- Product Vision & Strategy: Define and articulate a clear, long-term product vision and strategy for our OR platform. Conduct market analysis, competitor research, and customer discovery to identify new opportunities and ensure our product remains a market leader.
- Roadmap & Execution: Own the product roadmap from conception through launch and iteration. Prioritize features and initiatives based on business value, customer impact, and technical feasibility. Work closely with engineering, data science, and design teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery in an agile environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the central hub for your product, effectively collaborating with engineering, sales, marketing, and executive leadership. Clearly communicate product strategy, release plans, and performance metrics to all stakeholders.
Strategic Initiative: colGen Optimization Integration:
A key strategic priority for this role is to lead the evolution of our core product by integrating Column Generation (colGen) technology. This initiative is designed to solve large-scale, complex optimization problems that are intractable with traditional methods.
- Lead Strategic Pivot: Champion the technical and product strategy for incorporating colGen, a decomposition technique for solving complex linear programs, into our platform's core solver technology.
- Define Technical Requirements: Collaborate closely with our operations research scientists and specialized engineers to translate the mathematical principles of colGen into concrete product features and user stories.
- Develop Phased Roadmap: Create a detailed roadmap for integrating colGen capabilities.
- Translate Value: Articulate the immense business value of colGen—such as solving larger problems faster and finding more optimal solutions—to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers and internal sales teams.
- Drive Go-to-Market: Partner with marketing and sales to develop positioning, messaging, and training materials that effectively communicate the power and competitive advantage of our colGen-powered optimization engine.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in product management, with at least 4+ years in a leadership role managing a team of product managers.
- Proven track record of shipping successful B2B or enterprise SaaS products.
- Deep understanding of operations research , mathematical optimization (LP, MIP), and related algorithms.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. An MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a similar discipline is a significant plus.
- Direct experience with or strong conceptual knowledge of advanced optimization techniques like column generation is highly desirable.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to move seamlessly between high-level strategy and tactical execution.
