What you will do….
- Prepare and maintain complex financial models and analysis of proposed development and acquisition projects with a primary focus on Wind, Solar, or Storage opportunities in Canada and the USA
- Utilize strong communication skills to ensure models reflect input from internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SME) on a wide range of topics including but not limited to tax, accounting, capex, opex, production, offtake and energy markets
- Utilize financial models and analysis to provide key insights on potential acquisition and development opportunities to grow the renewable generation portfolio
- Provide modelling support for origination/greenfield development opportunities ranging from early stage origination projects through construction and financing to commercial operations
- Ensure all assumptions contained in financial models are properly vetted and documented
- Provide advice to the deal team on deal structure, opportunities, and risks, based on the sensitivity of project metrics to changes in project assumptions
- Prepare investment summaries and presentations for Senior Management and executive team to support decision making using output from financial models and understanding of power market and deal fundamentals
- Provide support to other analysts through sharing modelling and power market expertise
- Support other ad-hoc projects to further drive the team’s development objectives
We want you on our team because you…
- Have experience with the development of detailed financial models, preferably the modeling of energy generation projects including complex financial and equity structures
- Understand power market fundamentals, preferably with advanced knowledge of markets in Canada and in the US
- Experience modelling greenfield energy projects and/or US tax equity structures is an asset
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or other related fields.
- Have a keen interest and a passion for renewable energy
- Have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with strict deadlines
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV) or MBA an asset.
- Investment banking, private equity or renewable energy corporate development experience an asset.
