We are a fast-growing jewellery retail and e-commerce brand operating in Canada and in the U.S. Currently we are seeking an experienced HR Generalist with strong multi-province employment law knowledge and familiarity with U.S. employment considerations as we continue our growth.
About the Role
This role supports the full HR function in a scaling retail environment. You will lead core HR administration, be involved with recruiting and onboarding, support payroll and compliance, and help build processes that strengthen our organizational foundation.
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end recruitment for retail and corporate roles
- Conduct early informational interviews in some hiring pathways
- Prepare interview questions and decision matrixes, offer letters, employment agreements, and onboarding documentation in conjunction with other team leads
- Maintain employee files, HR systems, and compliance records
- Verify timekeeping and support payroll preparation through various apps
- Train and guide managers on employment law and best practices and industry benchmarks
- Advise on employment standards across Canadian provinces and monitor/research U.S. compliance needs as needed
- Assist with creation and maintenance of performance documentation and employee relations matters
- Contribute to policy development, handbooks, training materials, and compliance programs
- Support health and safety programs, legislative requirements and health insurance benefits management
Qualifications
- 5+ years HR experience in retail or high-growth environments
- University degree and CHRP/CHRL or equivalent designation in progress or completed (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards across provinces
- Familiarity with U.S. employment considerations an asset
- Experience supporting payroll cycles and HRIS administration
- High attention to detail, strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to support employees across retail, fulfillment, and corporate functions
