About the Role
We are looking for an experienced District Manager to oversee our solid waste operations in Red Deer. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant day to day operations while supporting service quality, customer satisfaction, and strong team performance. The District Manager will work closely with operations, maintenance, and administrative teams to meet operational goals and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations for the Red Deer solid waste district, ensuring safety, service quality, and operational efficiency
- Lead and support frontline supervisors, drivers, and operations staff
- Monitor productivity, route performance, equipment utilization, and service delivery
- Ensure compliance with provincial and municipal regulations, company policies, and safety standards
- Partner with maintenance teams to coordinate fleet and equipment needs
- Build strong relationships with municipal clients, contractors, and community partners
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and operational reporting
- Identify operational challenges and implement process improvements
- Support hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of staff
- Respond to escalated service issues and participate in incident investigations
- Promote a positive, safety focused culture across all operations
Qualifications
- 5 plus years experience in operations management, preferably in solid waste, transportation, environmental services, or a related industry
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing field based teams
- Solid understanding of safety programs, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices
- Proven ability to analyze data, manage budgets, and improve performance outcomes
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Able to balance hands on operational oversight with administrative and client facing responsibilities
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence; Class 3 or waste industry experience is an asset
