Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As Manager, Strategic Communications, you will lead the organization’s communications strategy at an enterprise level - shaping how employees connect to our purpose, priorities, and culture. You’ll act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior executives, guiding complex and high-impact communications, enabling change, and ensuring a consistent, employee-first voice across the organization. In this role, you’ll also lead and develop a high-performing internal communications team, setting direction, standards, and ways of working that support long-term business success.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Director, Enterprise Communications.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Setting and leading the enterprise communications strategy, aligning internal and external communications with organizational priorities, values, and long-term business goals
- Serving as a strategic advisor to senior and executive leaders, providing counsel on messaging, timing, and approach for complex, sensitive, or high-stakes communications across employee, public, and stakeholder audiences
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of external communications professionals, fostering strong capability, accountability, and a culture of excellence
- Overseeing the creation of clear, engaging, and impactful content that helps employees and external audiences understand the organization’s direction, navigate change, and connect to our mission and vision
- Building strong, influential partnerships across the organization to anticipate communications needs and deliver integrated, consistent messaging across internal, external, and leader-led channels
- Establishing and upholding high standards for tone of voice, messaging, and visual identity across all communications platforms and audiences
- Championing creative and innovative approaches to communications, leveraging technology, visuals, and emerging media to drive engagement with employees and external stakeholders
- Leading issues and crisis communications in partnership with change management, human resources, legal, and other business leaders, anticipating employee and public sentiment and mitigating reputational risk
- Defining governance, processes, and guidelines that enable efficient, consistent, and scalable communications across the enterprise
- Measuring and evaluating communications effectiveness, using insights and data to continuously refine strategy and strengthen engagement with internal and external audiences
- Providing senior-level project leadership for key initiatives that improve organizational efficiency and enable coordinated, company-wide communications
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate, internal, or external communications, including demonstrated people leadership
- Strong experience supporting media relations and crisis communications in complex or high-profile environments
- Advanced stakeholder management skills across complex, matrixed organizations
- Professional accreditation with CPRS or IABC

What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a salary range of $108,500 to $146,900 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
