Summary of responsibilities:
The Advisor, IT Network is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of CATSA’s IT network environment for all designated airports, regions, and data centres. The incumbent is also responsible for analyzing, planning, installing, customizing, and maintaining networking and data communications software and hardware, as well as performing key network management functions such as performance monitoring, ensuring network security, troubleshooting network issues, and managing the life cycle of network hardware. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the implementation and management of Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, including policy enforcement and authentication mechanisms (e.g., 802.1X), as well as the administration of enterprise wireless (Wi-Fi) infrastructure, standards, and security protocols. The Advisor, IT Network performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in computer science, information technology/management or another speciality relevant to the duties of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of four years of experience in an information technology role.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the deployment, administration, maintenance, and support of a corporate network infrastructure, including network appliances, network cabling, firewall configurations and testing network connectivity in a secure environment.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting complex network issues.
- In depth knowledge of the seven layers of the OSI model and network protocols such as TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, ARP, SNMP, ICMP etc.
- Experience configuring network devices such as routers and switches.
- Experience conducting research and trends analysis of new technologies specific to IT network infrastructures.
- Experience integrating new technology into an existing IT network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of corporate WAN infrastructures, backhaul technologies, WAN, and Internet routing protocols.

- Knowledge of network security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of a range of network protocols and applications.
- Hands on experience configuring Extreme Networks, HP Procurve, Cisco, and Nortel network devices is considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of systems security protocol, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Specific work requirements:
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
