We are looking for hardworking, outdoor-oriented individuals to join our Grounds Crew as Turf Labourers. You will be responsible for the daily grooming and maintenance of our historic 18-hole championship course. From hand-mowing the greens to maintaining the bunkers and manicuring the rough, your work ensures that the Highlands Links remains a bucket-list destination for golfers worldwide. Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operate specialized turf equipment including walk-behind greens mowers, triplex mowers for tees and fringes, and large-scale rotary mowers for fairways and roughs.
- Hand-rake and mechanical-rake sand traps to ensure consistent playing surfaces and a "clean" aesthetic.
- Execute precision string-trimming around trees, yardage markers, and bunkers. Assist in changing cup locations and moving tee markers daily.
- Assist in the application of fertilizers and seed. Help with "divot filling" programs on fairways and tee decks.
- Participate in larger course improvement projects such as sodding, drainage installation, and bunker reconstruction.
- Perform basic daily maintenance checks on equipment (checking oil, fuel, and cleaning machines after use). Report any mechanical issues immediately to the Shop Mechanic.
- Maintain the clubhouse and hotel grounds, ornamental gardens, and pathways to ensure the entire resort property looks pristine.
- Complying with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and GolfNorth Health & Safety program.
Qualifications:
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labour (lifting up to 50 lbs), walk several miles a day, and work in varying weather conditions (wind, rain, or heat).
- A valid driver's license is required to operate machinery and utility vehicles safely.
- Must be available for early morning starts (typically 5:00 AM) to ensure the course is prepared before the first golfers tee off.
- Ability to follow strict mowing patterns and safety protocols to protect the sensitive turf.
- Previous experience in landscaping or golf course maintenance is an asset, but we are willing to train candidates with the right attitude.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required for all positions to ensure effective communication across the resort.
- Proficiency in French or other languages (e.g., German, Spanish, Mandarin) is considered a significant asset for customer-facing roles.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, balance, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), extended periods of standing
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
