Position Overview
Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to cover Northern Ontario. This field-based role focuses on growing our wholesale distribution business by building and maintaining strong relationships with HVAC contractors, installers, mechanical contractors, builders, and other industry professionals in the region (including areas such as Sudbury, Thunder Bay, North Bay, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, and surrounding communities).
As the primary point of contact for Northern Ontario, you will promote Our client's extensive lineup of high-efficiency HVAC equipment—including heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, parts, supplies, controls, and tools—while driving sales growth, market share, and customer loyalty in a territory known for its challenging climates and demand for reliable, ultra-cold capable heating solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular in-person visits to existing and prospective customers (HVAC contractors, dealers, and related businesses) to build relationships, identify needs, present product solutions, and close sales.
- Achieve or exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets through proactive prospecting, account management, and upselling/cross-selling opportunities.
- Demonstrate and promote their energy-efficient, innovative HVAC products, emphasizing features like high SEER/HSPF ratings, ultra-heat performance in extreme cold, and sustainability benefits.
- Provide personalized technical advice, product training, and application support to help customers select the right solutions for residential, commercial, and light industrial projects.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regional opportunities in Northern Ontario's unique seasonal and geographic demands.
- Collaborate with internal teams (inside sales, warehouse, customer service) to ensure timely quotes, deliveries, and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate CRM records of customer interactions, sales pipelines, forecasts, and territory activity.
- Participate in trade shows, industry events, and local networking to expand Our client's presence in the region.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3+ years of proven outside sales experience in HVAC wholesale distribution, plumbing/HVAC supplies, or related B2B industrial sales (prior HVAC knowledge strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of HVAC products, systems (heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioning), energy efficiency standards, and regional climate considerations.
- Self-motivated with excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for extensive travel throughout Northern Ontario (mileage reimbursement provided).
- Comfortable working independently in a remote/field environment with occasional travel to head office or other locations.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office, and basic sales tools.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset in parts of Northern Ontario.
