The Building and Facilities Lead ensures the Site environment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational at all times. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical setting, takes pride in maintaining high‑availability infrastructure, and enjoys hands‑on problem‑solving.
The Building and Facilities Lead is responsible for all day‑to‑day operations, maintenance, and monitoring of the Site infrastructure. Working closely with technical teams, and external vendors, this person ensures the facility runs smoothly and supports uninterrupted 24/7 operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility maintenance and monitoring: Oversee daily facility maintenance and repairs, monitor building systems, and ensure all critical infrastructure is functioning properly. Schedule and supervise cleaning, landscaping, and upkeep services.
Strong management and organizational skills: Train and mentor maintenance staff and carry out administrative duties.
Support for power and environmental systems: Assist with UPS systems, generators, HVAC equipment, and environmental controls to maintain optimal operating conditions.
Vendor and contractor coordination: Escort and supervise external technicians, ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with Site/Company protocols.
Work order and ticket management: Respond to facility‑related requests, track issues, and ensure timely resolution. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and manage resolution.
Preventive maintenance tasks: Carry out scheduled maintenance activities and document results.
Health, safety, and security support: Assist with safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and adherence to site access controls. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Inventory and supplies management: Maintain stock of essential materials and coordinate procurement when needed.
Support for onsite projects: Participate in facility upgrades, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements.
Ability to lift equipment: Perform physical tasks as required.
Site Security: Maintenance safety of equipment and badge protocols.
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in facilities, building operations, or maintenance, ideally in a technical or mission‑critical environment.
- Familiarity with 24/7 operational environments and service delivery frameworks.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and fire safety.
- JHSC experience is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to issues.
- Bilingual (Proficient in both French and English).
- Ability to work with vendors and contractors and follow established procedures.
- Adaptability in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Working Conditions
- On site based in Gatineau QC
- Availability for occasional overtime or immediate on-call support.
