*The Opportunity*
Advocate Law is seeking a Criminal Defence Lawyer to work closely with Maurice C. Collard, an experienced criminal defence counsel with a busy and established practice. This role offers hands-on mentorship, meaningful courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to be involved in complex and challenging criminal files.
This position is well-suited to a junior or intermediate lawyer who is eager to build strong advocacy skills, take on responsibility, and grow within a criminal defence practice.
*Responsibilities*
* Work directly with Maurice Collard on criminal defence files
* Represent clients in Provincial Court and Court of King’s Bench
* Conduct bail hearings, trials, resolutions, and sentencing hearings
* Prepare legal research, court applications, and written submissions
* Manage assigned files from intake to completion
* Communicate professionally with clients, Crown counsel, and court staff
* Maintain strong ethical and professional standards
*Qualifications*
* Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
* Criminal defence experience is an asset;
motivated new calls encouraged to apply
* Strong interest in criminal law and courtroom advocacy
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to manage deadlines and a growing caseload
* Valid driver’s license and ability to attend court in Central Alberta as required
