Job Title: Manufacturing Test Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will design, build, and support automated test solutions used on manufacturing lines. The role involves writing test software using LabVIEW, Python, and C#, integrating instruments and fixtures, automating data capture, and creating Power BI dashboards. The engineer will also provide responsive production support, collaborating with engineers and technicians to ensure high uptime, repeatability, and compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated test software in LabVIEW, along with supporting tools in Python and C#.
- Create test sequences, user interfaces, and instrument drivers; integrate DAQ/PXI and common interfaces such as VISA/GPIB/USB/Ethernet.
- Build data pipelines from test stations to databases/files and publish Power BI dashboards and automated reports.
- Provide production support both remotely and onsite by triaging issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving corrective actions.
- Validate and calibrate instruments; maintain fixtures, cables, and documentation including procedures, wiring, and BOMs.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering teams and technicians; communicate status to management.
- Use source control (Git), conduct code reviews, and apply basic CI to ensure code quality and traceability.
- Adhere to ESD/safety and quality procedures; contribute to continuous improvement efforts for yield, cycle time, and FPY.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in LabVIEW and Python.
- 2–5 years of experience in software integration and hardware development for test/measurement or manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, and management.
- Experience with Power BI for dashboards, reporting, and process automation.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and DAQ/PXI.
- Familiarity with test methods including ICT, FCT, boundary scan, and ESS, as well as basic electronics skills such as reading schematics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with the NI ecosystem including TestStand, DAQmx, PXI, and instrument control via VISA; NI certifications such as CLAD/CLD are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), and Power Automate for notifications and workflows.
- Experience with industrial integration, including PLCs, CAN/Modbus/RS-485, barcode/traceability, and Windows services.
- Exposure to quality/regulatory standards such as IPC‑A‑610, IATF, and AS9100 in EMS, medtech, automotive, or aerospace sectors.
- Familiarity with hardware and fixture tasks such as soldering/rework, basic mechanical CAD, and safety interlocks.
- Knowledge of statistical methods including SPC, GR&R, MSA, and FPY/cycle-time analysis.
- Experience with UI frameworks such as WPF/WinForms for operator stations.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily on-site, with an expectation of five days per week. While certain responsibilities, such as system work, validations, and development tasks, require on-site presence, there is potential for flexibility based on the individual's performance and responsibilities. This flexibility will be assessed after hiring and is not positioned as a hybrid role upfront.
