Crofton House School is seeking an experienced Music teacher. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Teaching and learning is guided and enriched by the principles of a student-centred, collaborative approach with an inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.
This is a fixed-term contract to cover a leave of absence.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a dynamic choral Music program at the Junior School level (focus on JK-Grade 3)
- Establish a strong development of vocal technique in young children
- Integrate the revised BC Curriculum
- Plan and teach collaboratively with a teaching partner
- Enhance the experience for diverse learners
- Direct choirs, concerts, and performances
- Prepare Music for assemblies
- Engage in ongoing teacher professional growth
- Participate in a preparation for the Junior School Musical Singin’ in the Rain
- February: Tuesday + Thursday 3:30 PM -5 PM
- Starting March 31: Tuesday + Thursday 3:30 PM -5:30 PM
- Saturday, April 11 & 25 9:00 AM-3:30 PM
- Evening performances: April 29 & 30 7 PM -8:30 PM
- Participate in the Junior School co-curricular program
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
- B.C. Ministry of Education Certification
- Educational background that highlights Music
- Piano and vocal training required
- Experience in teaching Music with young children
- Independent school experience an asset
- Kodaly and/or Orff training an asset
- Demonstrated awareness of the learning styles of girls
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative and flexible

Employees of Crofton House School receive competitive compensation and support for professional, educational and leadership development. Annual Compensation: $65,869 - $116,734 depending on experience and education level.
