Element Specialist
Location: Whirlpool Adventure Course
Summary
This specialized role serves as the technical authority for the adventure course, responsible for maintaining the integrity, functionality, and optimal performance of WildPlays outdoor elements, adventure courses, and equipment. This position requires regular, hands-on work at height and candidates must be comfortable working at elevated positions while using fall-protection systems.
Providing technical guidance as required, this position leads the parks Tech Team and combines hands-on expertise in inspections and maintenance with strong leadership to uphold WildPlays rigorous safety and operational standards.
Driven by a commitment to adventure, safety, and exceptional guest experience, this role takes ownership of routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and equipment repairs, many of which are performed at height, while continuing to develop technical expertise. Working closely with Park Management, this position ensures all elements meet or exceed safety requirements and consistently deliver the seamless, high-quality experiences WildPlay is known for.
Responsibilities andduties include butarenotlimitedto:
- Exemplify the WildPlay Element Parks brand and support our model of theideal guest experience
- Regularly Works at height to inspect, maintain, and repair elevated elements
- Ensure site specific safety, inspections, maintenance, and risk management standards aremaintained
- Ensureall element and gearinspections are being completedin a timely mannerand not effecting operations
- In charge of overseeing technicalteam, ensuring tasks given are being completedin a timely mannerand correctly
- Foster relationships and communicationwith others on the Park Management Team
- Develop andmaintaintech team schedules
- Act as a safety representative ensuring Elements meet jurisdictional safety standards
- Performsand oversees routine and seasonal maintenance on all elements
- Leads by example,participatingin operational duties, performing the role of Guide, Guide Team Lead, or other roles asrequired/eligible
- Acts as the Manager on Duty whenrequired
- Works closely and collaboratively with Assistant Park Manager & Park Manager to support the Element team and general park operations
- Conducts Element training whenrequiredinconjunctionwith Assistant Park Manager
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Formal recreation education or equivalent experience in a management/leadership capacity
- Positive attitude with the ability to give and receive feedback
- Knowledge of risk management practices for high-risk activities
- Solid judgment and strong decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ableto manage multiple projects, adhere to budgets, andsolve problems withattention todetail
- Strong technical abilities, including the ability to work with standard MicrosoftOffice applications, and to learn new software
- Experience working in a fast paced, hospitality, tourist-based environment preferred
- Previous, high performing,leadershipand hands on operational experience in the Adventure Park industryhighly valued
- Ability and desire to perform physically demanding work
- Must be comfortable working at heights for extended periods and preforming technical tasks while elevated
- Current standardFirstAid and CPR-C certification
- Successful completion of Element, Technical, and other relevant training upon successfulemployment
Note: On-the-job training will be provided upon employment. This position requires frequent work at height as part of regular duties; candidates must be comfortable working at elevated positions and using fall protection systems.
Work Department
The Element Specialist acts as a supporting subject matter expert in Adventure Course equipment and operations. They report toboththe Park Manager (primary) and to the Assistant Park Manager (secondary).
Element staff, especially Tech Team members, will look to this position for guidance and support.
Work Schedule
This position is classified as seasonal with the position beginning in February and wrapping up in November.
At times, this position mayworka combination of part-time and full-time employmentdepending on the weather and the needs of the business.Full-timeavailabilityis requiredduringthe peak season, throughthe months of June-September.This includes working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
