ADC is currently seeking a dedicated Production Manager/Screen Printer to join our team. The Production Manager / Screen Printer is responsible for overseeing the full production cycle of decorated apparel at ADC.
This role combines hands-on screen printing with production leadership. You will be responsible for operating automatic and manual presses, managing the daily order flow, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring jobs move through production efficiently.
When production volume increases, you will be expected to step in, support the team directly, and organize staff to meet deadlines, including coordinating overtime when necessary.
You will also run regular production meetings to address upcoming orders, identify potential bottlenecks, and communicate production needs to other departments.
Your goal is simple: keep the shop running smoothly while maintaining ADC’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Management & Leadership
- Production Scheduling: Manage the daily production schedule and ensure orders move through screen printing, embroidery, and heat transfer departments efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Supervise production staff, provide training, and ensure team members understand the priorities for the day.
Production Meetings: Run regular production meetings to discuss order timelines, upcoming workloads, and any challenges that may impact production.
Department Coordination: Communicate with sales, artwork, and management to ensure all required assets, garments, and approvals are ready before production begins.
High Volume Management: When production demand increases, step in to support the team directly and coordinate additional staff or overtime when required to meet deadlines.
Quality Oversight: Perform final inspections to ensure prints meet ADC standards for registration, color accuracy, and durability.
2. Hands-on Screen Printing
Press Operation: Set up and operate both manual and automatic screen printing presses.
Automatic Press Experience: Strong preference for candidates with experience operating ROQ automatic presses or similar commercial equipment.
Pre-Press Production: Prepare screens through degreasing, coating, exposure, and proper registration.
Ink Management: Mix inks, match Pantone colors, and manage plastisol, water-based, and specialty inks.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve printing issues including registration shifts, ink coverage problems, and equipment adjustments.
3. Shop Operations
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on all production machinery to prevent downtime.
Screen & Ink Management: Manage screen preparation and maintenance, including coating, exposing, reclaiming, and cleaning screens to keep them production-ready. Mix inks and match colors as needed, running test prints to ensure accuracy before production. Maintain a clean washout and ink area to support consistent print quality and efficient shop operations.
Inventory Oversight: Monitor shop supplies such as inks, emulsions, screens, and chemicals, coordinating with management when restocking is needed.
Process Improvement: Streamline shop workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Screen Printing Experience: Professional experience operating screen printing presses in a production environment.
Leadership Experience: Previous experience supervising staff or managing production workflows.
Automatic Press Experience: Experience operating automatic screen printing presses (ROQ preferred).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mesh counts, squeegee durometers, screen tension, and curing temperatures.
Problem Solving: Ability to quickly identify and solve production issues while keeping orders on schedule.
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot printing defects or garment issues before products leave the shop.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with both the production team and office staff.
Preferred Software Knowledge
- InkSoft / E-Commerce Portals: Experience managing orders through shop management software (like InkSoft).
- Adobe Creative Suite: Basic knowledge of Illustrator or Photoshop for minor artwork adjustments or film output is a major plus.
