Position and Company Summary
The Plant Manager will engage in all such management duties as are reasonably necessary to ensure Sunterra’s operations are properly, profitably and prudently conducted; to ensure that all safety and work standards are met and to maintain our present customer base as well as build it even further. The Plant Manager position honestly and diligently performs all of the duties with a view to the best interest of Sunterra and undertakes to comply and abide with all of the Sunterra’s reasonable policies, rules and regulations as may be in effect from time to time.

Duties and Responsibilities
- The Plant Manager provides strategic leadership to managers, operators, and plant staff to ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and operational performance standards.
- Foster a high-performance work environment by proactively resolving conflicts, promoting team accountability, and reinforcing company values.
- Drive workforce capability by ensuring all employees receive comprehensive training and maintain full competency in their roles.
- Set clear expectations and operational direction to consistently achieve and surpass production targets.
- Enforce strict equipment competency standards, ensuring only fully trained personnel operate Sunterra machinery.
- Implement and monitor structured cleaning programs to eliminate fire hazards and maintain a safe, compliant facility.
- Build and refine a preventative maintenance program to maximize equipment uptime, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset life.
- Lead monthly safety meetings, reinforce a strong safety culture, and ensure adherence to all Sunterra safety policies.
- The Plant Manager oversee screening and baling operations to maintain superior product quality and operational efficiency.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues in real time to protect brand reputation and product standards.
- Ensure strict compliance with quality control protocols and drive continuous improvement in all production processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product consistency, streamline workflows, and reduce waste.
- Negotiate effectively with vendors to secure competitive pricing, quality materials, and reliable supply partnerships.
- Analyze and optimize freight rates to reduce transportation costs and improve overall logistics efficiency.
- The Plant Manager aligns staffing levels with production demands to maximize resource utilization and operational throughput.
- Monitor, control, and forecast production costs to support plant profitability and operational goals.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma with 5–10 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to enforce compliance.
- Technical understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics.
- Experience in operations, production, and inventory management; peat moss manufacturing is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to lead teams effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High initiative, reliability, and a positive, professional attitude.
Additional Plant Manager Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to align quality standards across all regions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience, reduce lead times, and support sales growth.
