Shift Collab is one of Canada’s largest therapy practices, operating virtually to support Canadians from coast-to-coast. We believe going to therapy should feel empowering, and we are on a mission to make therapy human by providing mental health care that’s approachable, meaningful, and designed to make a real impact. Founded in 2016, we’re a family-owned business that’s gone from a small clinic to over 125 brilliant teammates nationally—and we’re only getting started.
We're Hiring A Videographer and Editor! At Shift Collab, video isn’t an add-on. It’s one of the main ways we build trust, tell real stories, and show up authentically across our virtual brand. From founder-led storytelling, social content, paid media, and developing a new podcast, our goal is to create video that is actually worth watching. Rather than hiring someone new for every project, we’re intentionally looking for a long-term creative collaborator, someone who wants to learn our rhythm, understand our brand deeply, and contribute consistently rather than parachuting in project by project.
We’re looking for a combined videographer and video editor who gets that. Someone who cares about video quality - from pacing, to tone, to overall aesthetic - and brings strong execution skills along with a thoughtful point of view. You’ll work closely with our in-house marketing team and our co-founders, contributing ideas, offering your professional perspective, and helping shape how video continues to evolve across Shift Collab, without needing to lead the overall strategy.
This role is for someone who values collaboration over ego, and who knows how to balance quality with momentum. You take the work seriously, you’re open to feedback and iteration, and you believe great video is built with care, even when things move quickly.
Who You Are:- You’re a collaborative creative who genuinely enjoys working closely with a team and believes the best work comes from shared thinking, not working in a silo.
- You’re energized by feedback and iteration, and you see collaboration as a way to make the work stronger, not as a threat to your creative voice. You’re proactive, positive, and comfortable contributing ideas, while also knowing when to adapt, and execute.
- You’re curious and tapped into what’s happening in video and online culture. You notice trends, formats, and creative shifts, and you know how to translate what’s current into video that feels intentional and, on brand, without sacrificing quality or brand integrity.
- You’re able to balance thoughtful storytelling with performance and marketing goals, and you understand that great creative can be both meaningful and effective.
- You’re organized, dependable, and comfortable managing deadlines independently. And most importantly, you’re aligned with Shift Collab’s mission, values, and care about the kind of work we’re putting into the world.
What You'll Be Doing:- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to interpret briefs and align video content with brand and campaign goals
- Contribute to creative ideation, shot lists, and storyboards for longer-form and campaign-based content
- Film high-quality video, making creative and technical decisions related to framing, lighting, audio, and locations
- Confidently direct on-camera talent including founders and therapists
- Execute full post-production workflows including editing, audio mixing, colour correction, motion graphics, and exports for multiple platforms
- Edit and adapt content for social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.), paid social and advertising efforts, podcasts and website use.
- Produce multiple versions of content to support testing and performance optimization
- Manage digital assets including uploading, tagging, archiving, and organizing footage
- Maintain consistent creative and technical standards across all video content
- Collaborate with external freelancers or crew when required
- Advise on equipment needs and production improvements
What You'll Bring To The Table:- 5+ years of experience creating video for social media, podcasts, brand storytelling, or performance-driven content
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates relevant, high-quality video work
- Advanced shooting experience across studio, indoor, and outdoor environments
- Strong working knowledge of camera systems, lighting techniques, and audio recording
- Proven experience filming in both landscape and vertical, social-first formats
- A solid understanding of platform best practices across Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, etc.
- The ability to balance brand storytelling with performance-focused creative, roughly a 50/50 split
- A strong eye for detail, clear storytelling instincts, and excellent communication skills
From an editing and technical perspective, you’re comfortable with:- Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, CapCut, or similar tools
- Platform-native pacing, hooks, and storytelling
- Capturing and polishing high-quality audio, from microphone selection to broadcast-quality output
- Creating UGC-style content, text overlays, captions, and motion elements
- Performance-driven creative and content testing
- Tools like Riverside (an asset) and curiosity around AI tools to improve workflow efficiency
Tools and Setup- Contractors are responsible for having access to their own camera, audio, lighting, and editing equipment and software needed to perform their work.
- Comfortable working in Slack and project management tools such as Motion
- Ability to travel within the West GTA, including Hamilton and Toronto (travel time and expenses are not billed separately)
- Comfortable working primarily within business hours (9–5), with occasional flexibility for shoots
- This is an independent contractor role and does not include employee benefits
Compensation and Contract Details
- Compensation: Up to $50 per hour, depending on experience
- Average Monthly Hours: Approximately 20 hours per month, around 5 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours over time.
