This role exists due to continued growth and expanding demand for complex, low- to medium-volume precision machining programs.
At Mahler Machining, this position plays a key role in producing high-precision components for industries including aerospace, medical, deep-sea systems, clean technology, robotics, and OEM manufacturing - with a strong focus on quality, repeatability, and craftsmanship.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will take ownership of new parts from drawing to finished component, including programming, setup, and prove-out.
You will:
- Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC mills and horizontal machining centers
- Develop efficient toolpaths, fixturing strategies, and machining processes
- Take new parts from blueprint to production-ready workflows
- Machine a wide range of materials including aluminum, steels, titanium, plastics, and brass
- Hold tight tolerances (microns to 05")
- Perform first-article and in-process inspection
- Record measurements and quality data in ERP systems
- Create detailed setup instructions for repeat production
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize cycle times
- Maintain clean, organized machines and work areas
- Collaborate with other machinists, operators, and quality personnel

You'll work with advanced equipment including:
Machines:
- Mazak 5-Axis Machining Centers
- Horizontal Milling Machines
- Vertical CNC Mills
Controls:
- Mazatrol (helpful but not required)
CAM Software:
- GibbsCAM (primary programming platform)
Inspection Tools:
- Micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators, and CMM support

What We're Looking ForRequired
- 3+ years of 5-axis CNC programming and setup experience
- Experience machining tight tolerances
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Ability to independently program, set up, and prove out new parts
- Experience machining a variety of materials
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset
Preferred (Not Required)
- Horizontal machining experience
- GibbsCAM experience
- Mazak / Mazatrol familiarity
- Experience developing repeatable production processes
- Experience creating setup documentation
