The Role
We are seeking a seasoned professional who goes beyond the numbers. As a Senior Manager/Senior Accountant, you will be a key pillar of our firm, serving as a primary point of contact for clients and a mentor to our internal team. You will lead complex engagements, provide strategic tax and business planning advice, and ensure our commitment to "skillful execution" is met across every file.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, discussing complex tax planning options, corporate restructuring, and business growth strategies.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance, technical training, and file reviews for junior and intermediate staff to foster their professional development.
- File Oversight: Oversee and review the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns, financial statements, and assurance engagements.
- Client Relations: Maintain and grow strong client relationships by understanding their unique industry challenges (Agribusiness, Energy, etc.) and providing customized support.
- Compliance: Ensure all filings meet GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while identifying opportunities for tax optimization.
Qualifications
- Designation: CPA designation is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a public accounting practice, with a proven track record in a senior or managerial capacity.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of GAAP and Canadian tax law; experience with modern accounting software and reporting tools (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCycle, Cloud Accounting platforms).
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable advice for business owners.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with a "detail-oriented" approach to high-level planning.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with agriculture, energy sectors, or Indigenous business environments is considered a significant asset.
