POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing domestic and cross-border shipments across North America, ensuring documentation is accurate and shipments comply with USMCA regulations.
The role requires independent judgment to resolve compliance issues and mitigate risks from documentation errors, delays, or customs penalties. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to oversee multiple shipments are essential.
STRUCTURE:
The Logistics Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Procurement and Logistics.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Plan, track, and oversee shipments across North America to meet project timelines.
- Identify and resolve shipping and compliance issues, including errors or regulatory discrepancies.
- Liaise with Mexican, U.S., and Canadian brokers to support accurate HTS classification, pedimento review, or related customs adjustments.
- Prepare and review BOLs and certificates to ensure compliance prior to shipment release.
- Use ERP systems to track shipments, maintain records, and report progress.
- Manage Purchase Orders and invoice 3PL suppliers for all logistics activities.
- Create weekly reports for clients and internal teams on the status of shipments.
- Collaborate with Project Management, and inspection teams to align shipment schedules with production readiness and sourcing requirements.
- Map project scope and review blueprints in collaboration with drafting teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in logistics within a CUSMA framework.
- Bachelors degree or College Diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing logistics across multiple projects.
- Knowledge of customs documentation, HTS classification, pedimentos, R1, and MTRs.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Knowledge of ProCore is considered an asset.
- Experience managing logistics end-to-end in the power industry considered an asset.
- Previous procurement experience is considered an asset.
- Spanish language proficiency considered a strong asset.
- Experience with ocean and air operations is considered an asset.
