Position
Habitat for Humanity Edmonton ReStore is seeking a permanent full-time Driver/Warehouse Associate. Driver/Warehouse associates are responsible for delivering excellent experience for donors, volunteers, customers, and other stakeholders of Habitat for Humanity Edmonton (Habitat Edmonton). Duties include supporting donations and distribution operations, with tasks including but not limited to the consistent, positive interactions with donors, carefully & respectfully picking up donations and delivering them to the designated location, and the safe, courteous operation of Habitat Edmonton vehicles. The Driver/Warehouse Associate works closely with the Manager, Product Acquisition and Logistics, the Donations Warehouse Crew Lead & Safety Coordinator, and Donations Coordinator(s).
Duties and Responsibilities
This role will serve in two main areas, which are to:
- Carefully pick up and deliver products as coordinated and assigned, serving as either a driver or Swamper, capturing all relevant data in CRO software such as photos & drivers notes.
- Receive and process donations in the DC and ReStores as required.
The specific responsibilities and related expectations of the position include but are not limited to:
- Performing a daily safety inspection of vehicle prior to each use and completing all paperwork & SiteDocs entries related to this position.
- Performing simple vehicle maintenance, this includes but is not limited to:
- filling tires with air
- fueling
- maintaining the exterior and interior cleanliness of the vehicle.
A related expectation of this responsibility is to ensure that these procedures are monitored on a daily basis.
- Carefully loading and unloading merchandise, including heavy lifting, while being careful not to drag donations across the bed of the truck, or across ReStore or warehouse floors when executing job functions. A related expectation of this responsibility is to ensure that this is performed safely, following established safe work procedures for manually lifting and carrying.
- Maintaining driving records for mileage and fuel expenditures. A related expectation of this responsibility is to ensure that all records (e.g. FLHA, driver?s log, inspection sheets, etc.) are accurately kept (e.g. time and odometer readings are tracked accurately and in real time).
- Promptly informing the DC Crew Lead & Manager, Product Acquisition and Logistics of any vehicle problems or required servicing.
- Reading and following the driving route set by CRO and capturing required data. A related expectation of this responsibility is to ensure adherence to the route provided and completeness and accuracy of data entry (e.g. loading pictures, entering driver?s notes, as well as SiteDocs entries).
- Cleaning, pricing and distribution of donations, including proper placement of goods within the Distribution Centre & ReStore receiving areas.
- Maintenance (organization and cleanliness) of the Distribution Centre, Distribution Centre lot, Household Hazardous Materials area, and supporting Habitat Centre and ReStores as needed.
A related expectation of this responsibility is the regular collection of accumulated garbage along the inside and outside of the ground?s perimeter fence.
- Working with the Donations department to accurately track all donations.
- Determining the suitability of items for donation, within the current parameters of what is an acceptable donation.
- Fulfilling the duties and requirements of a ReStore Sales/Warehouse Associate when assigned to support a store location, following the direction of the Store Manager or their delegate, after checking in with the DC Crew Lead & Manager, Product Acquisition and Logistics to ensure there are no further driver/DC duties to complete.
It is expected that the candidate will also:
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to ensure maximum productivity.
- Exercise safe & courteous driving skills to and from coordinated destinations.
- Exercise safe loading, packing and unpacking procedures.
- Assist and interact with donors and customers to represent Habitat Edmonton in a professional, friendly and pleasant manner.

- Be financially responsible for all driving infractions incurred while acting as driver for any Habitat Edmonton vehicle (speeding and parking tickets, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Technical and Physical Competencies:
- Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 (minimum standard) Operator?s Licence
- Must possess a clean 5-year driver?s abstract
- Will need to be individually named on insurance for 3-ton commercial cube vans or larger proving their 3 years minimum experience. In the event that insurance coverage will not be issued, the employment offer/contract is considered nullified.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on your own
- Able to stand on feet for long periods of time, frequently bending, lifting and squatting
- Able to sit for long periods of time in a vehicle
- Be fit to work in all weather conditions
- Experience with CRO software or possess transferable knowledge to learn and work with CRO immediately
