POSITION TITLE: Communications Coordinator
PROGRAM: Engagement & Impact – Communications and Fund Development
POSITION TYPE: Permanent, Full-time
HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week; Occasional evening and weekend work will be required for various events and campaigns.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Coordinator supports the day-to-day communications work of the Engagement & Impact team by assisting with the development, coordination, and distribution of communications materials across CMHA Calgary.
Working closely with the Communications Lead and other members of the Engagement & Impact team, this role helps produce digital communications, program materials, campaign resources, and community engagement content that support CMHA Calgary programs, fundraising initiatives, and public awareness activities.
The Communications Coordinator contributes to maintaining clear, accessible, and consistent communications across the organization while providing additional capacity to support communications initiatives, campaigns, and program resources.

Key Service Responsibilities And Specific Accountabilities
Communications & Content Development
- Assist with creating and publishing communications across multiple platforms including website updates, email newsletters, and social media content.
- Support the preparation and editing of communications materials developed by the communications team. Assist with formatting, editing, and preparing content for publication.
- Help maintain clear and consistent messaging across communications channels.
Program Materials & Resource Development
- Create and update program materials, informational resources, and communications tools used across CMHA Calgary services.
- Assist with editing and formatting educational resources and online learning modules. Support the development of public-facing materials that help individuals and partners understand and access CMHA Calgary services.
- Ensure materials remain clear, accessible, and aligned with organizational messaging and branding.
Campaign & Engagement Communications
- Support communications for fundraising campaigns, community initiatives, and organizational announcements.
- Assist with the creation of promotional materials including email communications, social media content, and digital resources.
- Support communications related to community fundraising initiatives and third-party events.
Digital Communications
- Maintain and update content on the CMHA Calgary website.
- Schedule and distribute social media content.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of email newsletters and digital communications.
- Support tracking and monitoring of digital communications metrics.
Multimedia & Digital Content Support
- Assist with basic video and audio editing to support communications initiatives.
- Help prepare multimedia content used for digital communications, educational resources, and awareness initiatives.
Strategic Initiatives & Social Investment Collaboration
- Support the development and preparation of communications materials related to funded initiatives and partnerships.
- Assist with publishing and distributing communications content that highlights grant-funded programs and community initiatives.
- Help maintain communications assets, stories, and multimedia materials that demonstrate program impact.
Coordination & Administrative Support
- Assist in maintaining communications calendars and project timelines.
- Support coordination of communications activities across programs, fundraising initiatives, and events.
- Organize communications assets including photos, videos, and content files.
- Work collaboratively with communications, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and program teams.

Qualifications And Skills
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in communications, digital media, marketing, or nonprofit engagement.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Experience creating digital content for websites, social media, and email communications.
- Experience developing program materials, educational resources, or communications tools.
- Familiarity with website content management systems and email marketing platforms.
- Experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe platforms is considered an asset.
- Basic video and audio editing experience is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
