Job Description:
The Buyer I will report to the Manager, Contracts and Sourcing.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage purchase orders and ensure that commitments are met, and issues are resolved.
- Support and manage the competitive bid process for materials and services including developing competitive bid documents, managing the bid process to ensure fairness and compliance, evaluating bids and making recommendations
- Create, negotiate and manage contracts to effectively manage AltaLink's risk. Manage contract changes, amendments and dispute resolution
- Ensure successful supplier relationships including the identification and development of key suppliers.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars - one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability
Requirements
- University bachelor's degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related disciplines.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL) or equivalent, is an asset; or working towards a supply chain designation.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
- Background in electrical utilities industry an asset
- Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Good computer skills including experience with SAP and Oracle an asset
- Understanding of legal terms and conditions
- Good negotiation and decision-making skills
- Results oriented with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks
- Organization and time management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;
- Proven track record of good attendance and performance
