Position Overview
C. Valley Group is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for asphalt paving, concrete paving, Asphalt Maintenance, and related exterior property services.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to analyze project requirements, prepare bid submissions, and support the successful delivery of projects across commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Tendering
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for:
- Asphalt paving and resurfacing
- Concrete construction (curbs, sidewalks, pads, ramps)
- Asphalt maintenance and repairs
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Prepare and submit competitive tender bids and proposals.
Project Planning Support
- Work with operations and project management teams to determine labor, equipment, and material requirements.
- Assist with project budgeting and cost forecasting.
- Identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
Client & Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with clients to clarify project scope and expectations.
- Develop relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.
- Track bid results and analyze project profitability.
- Assist with contract documentation and change order pricing.
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5+ years of experience in construction estimating ( Civil, asphalt, or concrete preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Proficiency in:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
Preferred
- Experience in asphalt paving, concrete works, or site servicing
- Knowledge of Ontario construction standards and municipal specifications
- Civil engineering, construction management, or related education
