Position Overview
Classic Construction is seeking a reliable and skilled General Labourer / Carpenter to join our growing team. This contract role is open due to a recent staffing change and will continue to support our construction and maintenance projects. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, this role will play a key part in delivering high-quality workmanship across a variety of construction projects.
This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility to transition to full-time employment following the 6-month contract period, following a review at the end of the contract term.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general construction and labour tasks, including site preparation, demolition, and material handling
- Support skilled trades with day-to-day construction activities
- Perform basic carpentry, repairs, and maintenance work as required
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
- Follow project plans, schedules, and instructions provided by the Construction Manager
- Comply with all company policies and health and safety regulations
- Identify and report safety hazards, material needs, or issues on site
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in general labour or construction work
- Must supply and maintain their own tools suitable for general construction work
- Demonstrated ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices
- Physically capable of performing manual labour, including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to take direction and adapt to changing priorities
- Valid Ontario drivers licence and reliable transportation required
