ControllerPosition Overview:
We are partnering with a purpose-driven, community-focused organization to recruit a Controller for a newly refined leadership role within their finance team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact position where you will play a critical role in stabilizing, strengthening, and scaling financial operations within a growing and evolving organization.
Operating in a multi-entity environment, the organization combines nonprofit operations with an entrepreneurial, revenue-generating arm which creates a dynamic and meaningful setting that blends mission with operational complexity.
This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and working closely with leadership to drive long-term sustainability.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will oversee day-to-day financial operations, support strategic decision-making, and lead the development of scalable systems and controls. Responsibilities:
The Controller will be responsible for:
- Overseeing all accounting operations including AP, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting across multiple entities
- Leading month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial information
- Developing and implementing financial processes, controls, and SOPs to support organizational growth
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with leadership
- Acting as the primary liaison with external advisors and auditors, coordinating year-end requirements
- Supporting leadership with financial insights, analysis, and strategic recommendations
- Overseeing and mentoring a small internal finance team, providing guidance and development
- Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, reporting standards, and funding requirements
- Supporting the financial components of fundraising, grants, and donor reporting
- Assisting in the transition and optimization of systems and tools to improve efficiency and reporting
- Driving continuous improvement and scalability within the finance function
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibility
- Strong background in financial reporting, controls, and full-cycle accounting
- Experience in nonprofit, fund accounting, or multi-entity environments is highly preferred
- CPA designation is considered an asset but not required
- Demonstrated ability to build processes and bring structure to evolving environments
- Hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, growth-oriented setting
- Experience with systems such as QuickBooks (or similar) and CRM platforms is an asset

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary in the range of $85,000 – $110,000, depending on experience
