Reporting to the Manager, Construction Management Services, the successful applicant will:
- Plan, prioritize and administer vertical capital construction projects including water supply and wastewater treatment facilities
- Direct and oversee staff participation in contract administration and the preparation and review of plans, designs and applications affecting the construction of the Region's water supply and wastewater treatment facilities
- Assign and oversee the preparation of all contract documentation
- Develop and administer annual capital construction project budgets
- Initiate and undertake the construction contract administration of water supply and wastewater treatment projects
- Represent and promote the Region by communicating with the media, elected officials, community organizations, businesses and the public regarding construction program and project issues
The successful applicant will possess:
- A bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
- Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) through Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) through Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
- Extensive work-related experience in a supervisory environment and in construction of municipal water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure, design, contract administration and project management
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Durham Region Design Guidelines, Construction Act and Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications
- Knowledge and experience communicating complex topics to a variety of stakeholders and audiences from diverse backgrounds in a clear, concise, accessible, inclusive, and meaningful way
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, managerial, problem solving, analytical, mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution, project management and organizational skills
- A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence and the daily use of a reliable vehicle
