The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering several exciting opportunities in our Recreation, Culture & Projects Department.
With the upcoming Grand Opening (September 2026) of the Lets’Emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre (LRRAC), we are looking to assemble a dynamic team to deliver exceptional services to our region. This amazing new facility expands our existing recreation centre and features an 8-lane pool, lazy river, steam room, sauna, and hot tub.
We are seeking a positive, energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented Part Time Aquatic Leader to join us.
Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting with the supervision of qualified staff for the delivery of aquatics programs; providing on-going training opportunities for staff involved with the aquatics programs; assisting in scheduling and evaluating Lifeguards and Aquatics Instructors; assisting with risk management, maintenance, and water chemistry tasks; performing on deck instruction and lifeguarding modeling high standard guarding behaviors; assisting with administrative duties; liaising with other Recreation/Culture staff to create a safe and engaging aquatic experience for participants; and provide recommendations to supervisors.
Required qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma or proven equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of aquatic experience.
- National Lifeguard (NL) - Pool Option.
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certificate.
- Lifesaving Instructor/Examiners Certificate.
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C and AED.
- Pool Operator Certification.
- Preferred: National Lifeguard (NL) Instructor and/or Lifesaving Society Trainer Certificate.
Pay and benefits for this bargaining unit position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $33.14/hour. This part-time position may also include extended health benefits and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP), in accordance with the policies of the benefits provider and the MPP.
