Position Overview
Are you ready to play a vital role in delivering safe, clean drinking water to the community? As a permanent, full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator, you’ll be at the forefront of a sophisticated and crucial operation — managing, maintaining, and optimizing a state-of-the-art water treatment system that safeguards public health every day.
Under the guidance of the Crew Leader – Water Treatment Facility you’ll make key operational decisions, tackle complex challenges, and ensure that every drop of water meets or surpasses all stringent regulatory standards. This role demands sharp judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to lead and train others, all while working within a dynamic, fast-paced environment filled with high-tech controls, chemicals, and continuous problem-solving.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Level III Water Treatment Certificate through the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) of BC/Yukon and a member in good standing.
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a Water Technology program.
- Minimum three (3) years' previous relevant related experience in water treatment. Must be currently working at a Class III or IV water treatment facility.
- Proficient in basic Word and basic Excel, as demonstrated through testing. (70% pass rate required)
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position.
This is a CUPE local 900 position.

$43.049 (2025)

Non-normal shifts, rotational shifts required.
