A Diesel Mechanic at Purolator Inc. is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the company's fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to keep them safe and reliable.
Typical responsibilities include:
Performing preventive maintenance on trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet equipment.
Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic faults.
Repairing or replacing engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and other components.
Using diagnostic software and computerized testing equipment to identify problems.
Conducting safety inspections and ensuring vehicles comply with provincial and federal regulations.
Completing maintenance records and work orders accurately.
Responding to breakdowns and performing emergency repairs when required.
Maintaining a clean and safe work area while following company safety procedures.
Required qualifications:
A valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician licence (or eligibility to obtain one, depending on the position and province).
Experience repairing diesel trucks and commercial vehicles.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of air brake systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and computerized diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in a shop environment.
A valid driver's licence (a Class AZ or DZ licence may be considered an asset for some positions).
