About the Position
Atlas Ironworks Inc. is seeking two (2) experienced Structural Steel Drafter/Detailers to join our growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing detailed engineering and fabrication drawings for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects while working closely with engineers, project managers, production staff, and clients.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Develop and prepare engineering designs and detailed structural steel drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other technical information.
• Create and maintain Building Information Models (BIM) using industry-standard software to support structural steel projects.
• Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting software to prepare accurate fabrication, shop, and erection drawings.
• Develop and prepare design sketches, layouts, and drawing revisions.
• Produce complete documentation packages, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, and drawing sets.
• Review and verify drawings to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, project requirements, applicable codes, and design data.
• Prepare technical reports, contracts, tender documents, construction specifications, material take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Consult with engineers, architects, project managers, production personnel, and clients to establish project requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain organized drawing records and ensure documentation is completed accurately and within project deadlines.
Education
• College diploma or certificate (1 to 2 years) in:
o Architectural Technology;
o Drafting Technology;
o Engineering Design Technology; or
o A related discipline.
Experience
• Minimum 3 years to less than 5 years of experience as a Structural Steel Drafter, Drafting Technologist, Steel Detailer, or in a related drafting role.
• Experience preparing structural steel shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, architectural drawings, structural plans, and technical specifications.
Required Skills
• Proficiency using AutoCAD.
• Experience using CAD drafting software.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel detailing and fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and structural blueprints.
• Experience preparing bills of materials, construction specifications, and material estimates.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Skills (Asset)
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:
• Tekla Structures
• SolidWorks
• Autodesk Inventor
• BIM software
• Structural steel detailing software

Employment Details
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Wage and Benefits
• $36.92 $37.00 per hour, depending on experience
