Parks Operator II
Permanent Full-timeNestled in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Summerland is a picturesque community with a population of approximately 12,600 residents. The District of Summerland boasts a small-town atmosphere, beautiful outdoor environment, and a great quality of life with access to many indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and over 60 parks including sports fields, beaches, trails, rodeo grounds, green spaces and gardens.Our Parks Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Parks Operator II to join our team. This position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality municipal park spaces, with a primary focus on turf management, while also supporting irrigation and general parks operations as needed.
The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on experience in parks maintenance, with demonstrated knowledge of turf management practices, including turf health, maintenance techniques, and seasonal care. Working knowledge of irrigation systems, operating parks equipment and tools, gardening, and landscaping practices is also required. Preference will be given to candidates with turf management education and experience. Horticulture education and experience will be considered an asset. Candidates must possess Turf Science Level 1 or another relevant turf management
course or Certified Irrigation Technician Level 1, with a willingness to obtain the alternate certification. A valid B.C. Driver’s License, First Aid certification, and MOE Pesticide Applicator Certification are required, or the willingness to obtain these credentials.

www.summerland.ca/jobs. This is a regular full time union position (CUPE 1136) currently on a 40 hour per week fortnight schedule (everyone second Monday off), and the hourly wage is $35.68 as well as a competitive benefits packages and pension.
