Join our growing Human Resources Team at the Town of Qualicum Beach!
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team in the exciting and rewarding temporary full-time role of Human Resources Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position is set to begin immediately for a 13-month term.
In this role, you will support the recruitment, onboarding, and selection processes, while also coordinating training and development initiatives. Additionally, you will contribute to a variety of HR projects that enhance organizational growth, employee engagement, and operational effectiveness. This position works closely with managers, supervisors, employees, and CUPE Local 401 to help foster a positive and supportive work environment.
Key Responsibilities include
Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding
- Coordinate and support recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection.
- Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and attract qualified candidates.
- Oversee the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
Training and Development
- Coordinate and support training and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with managers to identify training needs.
General HR Support
- Support HR projects that contribute to organizational success, enhance processes, and foster employee engagement.
- Provide general HR administrative support, including organizing and maintaining employee records, creating and updating files, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with confidentiality standards and policies.
- Provide support to HR staff in responding to policy and practice inquiries, ensuring confidentiality, and professionalism.
Candidates under consideration will demonstrate
- Knowledge and understanding of human resources management principles including recruitment and selection, employee engagement and training and development.
- Experience in recruitment, selection, and onboarding, as well as training and development.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, relevant legislation, and policy interpretation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and manage multiple projects with competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualified candidates will possess
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, and at least two (2) years of progressive experience working within an HR department.
- CPHR designation and experience working in a unionized environment in a local government setting are considered assets.
The successful candidate will be approachable, diplomatic, and proactive, with a passion for HR and a commitment to continuous learning. This exempt position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $66,365 to $82,758 and includes ongoing training opportunities and an excellent benefits package. The starting salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's related education and experience.
As a requirement of the position the successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment. Shortlisted applicants may be required to undergo a verification of their skills by completing writing, computer and/or skill testing assessments.
