In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in maintaining sports fields, natural and artificial turf areas, irrigation systems, and public green spaces. You'll combine technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure our parks remain safe, attractive, and ready for play. About the Role:
As a Turf and Irrigation Technician, you will:
- Plan, inspect, coordinate, and perform maintenance on sports fields, turf areas, and irrigation systems throughout District parks and public spaces.
- Monitor and assess the condition, safety, and playability of natural and artificial turf fields.
- Develop and oversee field maintenance programs to ensure optimal field conditions.
- Ensure parks, sports fields, and surrounding areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Plan, assign, supervise, and actively participate in the work of Parks crews involved in turf and irrigation maintenance.
What we’re looking for:
Our ideal candidate brings hands-on experience maintaining sports fields, turf, landscapes, and irrigation systems, along with a strong ability to identify and resolve maintenance, safety, and operational issues. In addition, you have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary Turf Science program
- Certified Level 1 and Level 2 Irrigation Technician with the Irrigation Industry Association of BC
- Valid BC Class 3 Driver’s License with air endorsement and a safe driving record
- Certified TCP (Traffic Control Person) and experience with TMP (Traffic Management Plans)
- 3 Years’ working experience in a Turf and Irrigation operation
- WHMIS
