Reports to: Program Manager, Infrastructure Planning & Studies SOGR

The Project Manager supports the State of Good Repair (SOGR) and leads complex water/wastewater projects related to the state of good repair of infrastructure assets including complex technical feasibility and risk/condition assessment studies related to infrastructure system/service improvements and asset functionality.
What you will do in the role:
- Coordinate and develop the distribution and collection systems’ (small diameter) linear water and wastewater capital budget and present the plans to the managers, directors and general manager for approval.
- Deliver small diameter inspection plans to the Operations and Engineering groups for execution.
- Utilize small diameter inspection deliverables from the Operations and Engineering groups to inform the capital budget.
- Deliver the capital budget small diameter detailed scopes of work to the Engineering groups for detailed design and execution.
- Develop, maintain and analyze information from the decision support system (DSS), long term financial forecasting tools and provide strategic advice to the SOGR Advisors to support modeling of financial requirements to inform long-term utility rate planning and enhance the Engineering groups’ coordination of future works.
- Continuous improvement of the DSS to service small diameter water and wastewater short and long term infrastructure needs.
- Support asset inspection, condition and performance standards, inspection and condition assessment plans in collaboration with Operations and Engineering groups.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of lifecycle curves, deterioration curves, for water and wastewater linear assets based on industry research, studies and Peel specific data.
- Provide support to the SOGR Advisors and other Public Works divisions such as Transportation, Waste Management, Operations Support in maturing their state of good repair programs and developing capital plans. • Liaise with other departments, divisions and sections within the Region, external agencies and municipalities. Participation in various internal stakeholder committees.
- Manage projects pertaining to the advancement of small diameter SOGR practices.
What you bring to the role:
- University/College degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geo Science or Earth Sciences.
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure and related functions (pressure zones, sewer sheds and sewer catchment areas, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, inflows, condition assessment and engineering technologies)
- Experience working with hydraulic modeling data to inform condition assessment decisions and the development of the capital budget
- Developed project management skills to lead diverse project teams, understand/anticipate the needs of stakeholders and team members and recognize problems/challenges
- Developed project preparation and planning skills to develop project scope and identify and manage internal/external resources, funding and scheduling issues
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated application of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, database programs, and GIS applications
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Skills/Abilities
- Strong collaboration skills to achieve consensus with approval agencies and internal/external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present project components to senior management, Council, stakeholders and public information meetings
- Effective problem-solving skills to evaluate stakeholder input, technical and logistical components and develop appropriate cost-effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to delegate work among project teams and resolve team conflicts
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical data as it relates to infrastructure functionality and condition, and data relating to asset life cycles, project financials and field intel
- Knowledge of engineering principles in the civil engineering field, and related project team planning and leadership

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
