As a Camp Counsellor at Camp Tidnish, you will be the heart of the camp experience, ensuring that every camper, from children to youth and adults, has a fun, inclusive, and memorable summer. You will lead and engage campers in a variety of activities, providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and explore in a safe, supportive environment. This role requires an energetic, compassionate, and loving approach to both camper care and activity leadership, making it an extraordinary experience for campers of all abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading Fun and Engaging Activities:
Lead and support campers of all ages (children, youth, and adults) in a variety of adaptive activities, ensuring each participant feels included, confident, and excited.
Foster creativity, teamwork, and growth by facilitating arts and crafts, sports, outdoor adventures, and camp games tailored to each camper’s abilities.
Encourage campers to challenge themselves while ensuring a safe and fun environment for them to explore new experiences.
Building Meaningful Connections:
Develop positive and supportive relationships with each camper, ensuring they feel valued and heard.
Provide a safe, nurturing environment where campers feel comfortable expressing themselves and building friendships.
Help campers of all ages develop confidence and independence through tailored support and encouragement during all activities.
Health Care Support:
Assist campers with health-related needs such as medications, mobility assistance, and personal care, as required, while maintaining dignity and respect.
Communicate any health concerns to the Health Care Manager and other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to camper well-being.
Support campers in feeling their best by maintaining a hygienic, safe, and comfortable camp environment.
Creating a Positive Camp Culture:
Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to every activity and interaction with campers and fellow staff.
Foster a sense of community by promoting teamwork, inclusivity, and respect in all camp activities.
Actively listen to campers and address their needs with kindness, empathy, and care, making sure every camper feels like they belong.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with fellow counsellors and the camp leadership team to create a cohesive and supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive.
Communicate effectively with staff to ensure all camper needs are met, and camp activities run smoothly.
Administrative Duties:
Keep accurate records of camper care, health needs, and any incidents, reporting as necessary to ensure proper care and attention is provided.
Assist in maintaining camp supplies and equipment needed for various activities.

Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus, but not required (training provided).
