Job Summary:
The Intermediate Interior Design Technologist will play a crucial role in providing technical support to interior designers, assisting in the development and implementation of interior design solutions for healthcare facilities.
This position requires a strong understanding of interior design technology, building systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with interior designers to translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings
- Assist in the preparation of interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
- Support the selection and specification of interior finishes, materials, and furniture suitable for healthcare environments
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other design disciplines to ensure design integration
- Ensure that interior design solutions adhere to building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Utilize design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite, proficiently
- Participate in site visits to verify construction progress and alignment with design intent
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source interior design products and materials
- Assist in the preparation of construction documents and detailing for interior design elements
- Review and assess shop drawings and submittals related to interior design components
- Stay updated with industry trends, new interior design technologies, and sustainable practices
- Support and collaborate with junior interior design technologists when required
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design Technology or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as an Interior Design Technologist, preferably with exposure to healthcare projects
- Proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to produce detailed interior design drawings and construction documents
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to healthcare facilities
- Knowledge of interior design products, finishes, and materials suitable for healthcare environments
- Understanding of construction processes and the ability to collaborate with various design disciplines
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy and precision in technical drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively work with design teams
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to finding solutions
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D visualization tools is a plus
