Job Description
Duties:
- Service, install and repair gates, gate operators and parking payment systems, with detailed notes of all work completed.
- Perform in-shop repairs on a wide range of electronic, mechanical, and computer-based products.
- Assist in installation projects, configuration/programming, testing, and customer training, ensuring that scope of work is followed, project is planned and executed within established timelines.
- Provide customer telephone support and remote desktop support, explaining service and repairs.
- Provide recommendations for upgrades or replacements.
- Assist with in-shop quality control product testing and product development testing during beta and site-trial phases of product releases.
- Maintain inventory and ensure all inventory processes are completed.
- Perform occasional out of town service calls throughout the region.
- Perform on-call after-hours service on a regular rotation with a team of field service technicians.
Education
Electronics Technician Diploma or Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school institution

Computer Engineering Technician or Computer Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school institution.
Skills Required
- Programming / networking experience required.
- Working knowledge of:
- Windows and Linux Computer Servers and Workstations
- Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating System Fundamentals
- MS-SQL Database Engines
- Programming in C++ language and Java Script
- Network Devices-Routing and Switching Essentials
- Electronics circuits
- Programmable Logic Controllers
- Relay logic
- Electric motors and associated control devices
- Experience in gate/gate loop installation and repair.
- Experience with access control integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license/ clean drivers abstract.
Job Experience
Candidates with at least three (3) years’ field experience working in a role that requires similar skills and knowledge are preferred; or those working in a related industry, e.g. Security Alarm Systems, Building Control Systems, Video Camera Systems.
